Ma Se Kind is a South African non-profit organisation founded on a simple but urgent belief: every child deserves a great teacher—and every aspiring teacher deserves the chance to become one.
We develop, fund, and mentor future educators from underprivileged communities by providing bursaries, practical placements, structured support, and real-world teaching experience in both under-resourced and well-resourced schools.
Our goal? To transform the education system from the inside out—by equipping passionate young people to become educators who not only know the syllabus, but understand the communities they serve.
It means “your mother’s child.” It’s how we refer to someone else’s child with the care and respect of family.
That’s how we treat every learner. Every assistant teacher. Every community member.
Because building the future of education isn’t just policy. It’s personal.
A South Africa where every child is taught by someone who believes in them—because every aspiring teacher had someone who believed in them first.
We envision a future where classrooms are calm, supported, and led by skilled, passionate educators who reflect the communities they serve. A future where no child is invisible, no subject is lost, and no dream is out of reach—because the people who teach our children were given the chance to become who they were meant to be.
To raise the next generation of educators who will rebuild the nation’s classrooms—and restore the promise of learning for every child in South Africa.
The foundations of Ma Se Kind is built on the vision set out by our board of directors, who form the founding members of the organisation.
