Neill Pleaner

Chairman

Neill Pleaner brings decades of visionary leadership and hands-on experience in education development to his role as Chairman of Ma Se Kind. A passionate advocate for educational equity, Neill has been instrumental in establishing and supporting schools that have become benchmarks of excellence in South Africa.

As the founding financial governor of Beaulieu Preparatory School, Kyalami Preparatory School, and Beaulieu College, Neill played a pivotal role in their strategic growth and financial sustainability. Today, these institutions are regarded among the top private schools in the country, known for their academic excellence and commitment to developing well-rounded learners.

Neill’s dedication to inclusive education extends beyond the private sector. In 1996, he helped initiate a groundbreaking partnership with Muzomuhle Primary School in Diepsloot, an informal settlement in Midrand. Under his leadership, this initiative led to the construction of classrooms and the development of a teacher support program in collaboration with educators from Beaulieu Preparatory. The project continues to thrive today, having helped numerous learners from disadvantaged backgrounds progress to higher education.

Neill also served on the board of MASSMART as a director, giving him first-hand experience with fiduciary responsibilities and sound corporate governance within a public company. This background enhances his strategic leadership at Ma Se Kind, ensuring the project is managed with integrity, accountability, and long-term sustainability.

At Ma Se Kind, Neill champions the mission to support aspiring teachers from previously disadvantaged communities who face financial barriers to pursuing their dreams. Through structured support, bursaries, and practical placements in both public and private schools, the project equips student teachers to deliver quality education in STEM subjects where it is most needed.

Neill’s deep understanding of educational infrastructure, teacher recruitment, financial strategy, and corporate governance makes him the perfect person to lead Ma Se Kind’s mission to transform South Africa’s educational landscape—one future teacher at a time.
